IGAD and Partners Sign Joint Financing Arrangement Print E-mail

(IGAD - Addis Ababa) IGAD Secretariat and its development partners signed today a Joint Financing Arrangement (JFA) in Addis Ababa. The JFA is intended to harmonize the donor support to IGAD.

Over the years IGAD entered into strategic partnership and alliances with various stakeholders to advance its development objectives. The European Commission (EC), Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands, USAID, Norway, Sweden, Italy and Canada are among the partners who have been supporting IGAD for a long time.

The IGAD development initiatives were planned with the hope that donors would provide the necessary funds. Over the years, however, it has become clear that adequate donor funds were not coming in sufficient quantities or in time. This led to the shelving of important projects and programs.
